Who We Are
Swansea Business Improvements was created by businesses and organisations in Swansea city centre who voted to establish a Business Improvement District (BID) in March 2006. The BID was renewed in 2011 and 2016, for further 5 year terms.
Working alongside The City & Council of Swansea, South Wales Police and other public agencies and associations, BID, as the conduit for businesses, delivers leadership along with place marketing, place management and operational improvements for businesses/organisations located in the BID area.
The daily operations of Swansea BID are led by Chief Executive Russell Greenslade, who reports to the Board of Directors and its Chair. The BID management team comes with many years' experience in business, retail, public and private sectors. The Swansea BID office team comprises of the Chief Executive as well as Business Liaison Officer, Amelia Rudman and Administration Coordinator (PT), Rhiannon Steel.
Through using the wealth of business experience, knowledge, support and passion that the Board of Directors and the office team bring, Swansea BID has gained the British BIDs Accreditation, the industry standard by which to measure the quality of a BID's management and operations.
Swansea BID Members can be satisfied that their BID is well managed, with strong governance and that it complies with the legislation and guidelines that regulates all of the UK’s BIDs. The company is also a member of ATCM BIDs (part of the Association of Town Centre Management) and the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB). With its Chief Executive currently sitting on Federation of Small Business Swansea Branch committee, South Wales Chamber of Commerce Council and ATCM National Advisory Board, in order for businesses large and small to be represented locally, regionally and nationally.

Swansea BID is funded primarily by a levy paid by the Swansea BID Business Members which costs 1% of their rateable value. This money is collected by the Local Authority on our behalf. Other funding avenues are applied for in order to deliver operational projects and offset levy funds.
Swansea BID is a not-for-profit business. We are registered as a limited by guarantee organisation and any surplus revenues are ploughed back into the BID area. Since its inception, Swansea BID has invested over £4.5 Million into delivering the aims and objectives of the company, which is to make the City Centre a better place to shop, visit, study, stay and do business. This is delivered through the vision to facilitate and develop partnership working locally, regionally and nationally in order to achieve our mission.
